I bought these carnations this spring, I felt desperate some colour in my life. I could look out at the sea and let my eyes rest on them on the way, feeling joy of life and getting some rest for my soul, whatever that is. Now they are slowly drying, but they will surely come back to life next spring.

Compré estos claveles en primavera, necesitaba desesperadamente un poco de color en mi vida. Así podía mirar al mar y dejar que mis ojos descansaran sobre ellos de camino, sintiendo alegría de vivir y a la vez un poco de descanso para el alma, sea lo que sea eso. Ahora van secándose lentamente, pero con toda seguridad brotarán de nuevo la primavera que viene.

Finally I finished this portrait of an athlete, a present for some friends of mine. Her husband was very very happy with it.

I think we will always remember this year, the year of the Covid-19 illness that spread around the world. While we had to stay at home for 6 weeks, I finished this picture, already wishing it was summer, but knowing it was going to be a different summer than usual.

Creo que siempre recordaremos este año, el año de la enfermedad Covid-19 que se extendió por todo el mundo. Durante la cuarentena de 6 semanas, acabé este dibujo, ya deseando que llegara el verano, y sabiendo a la vez que iba a ser un verano diferente a lo habitual.

August 2015, it's summer in Spain, but cloudy and with a cool wind blowing, water as cold as ice. That was Galicia. The beaches though, they are amazing, almost in their natural state, they even reminded me of Caribbean beaches at places. I managed to have a bath in that freezing, turquoise water and keep my body functioning normally afterwards. This boy and his dog, well, they happened to be at the right place at the right moment.

Agosto de 2015, es verano en España, pero está nublado y sopla un viento fresco, el agua está fría como el hielo. Eso era Galicia. Sin embargo las playas son magníficas, casi están en su estado natural y algunas me recordaban a playas caribeñas. Conseguí bañarme en ese agua turquesa helada y que mi cuerpo funcionara normalmente después del baño. Este niño y su perro, bueno, estaban en el sitio adecuado en el momento adecuado.

A beautiful cliff and such amazing colours of the sea reflecting the sky. This was May, a friend of mine took the picture and when I saw it, I just couldn't resist it. It is a present for my dear cousin's wedding.

Una hermosa cala y esos colores sorprendentes del mar relfejando el cielo. Era mayo, una amiga mia tomó la foto y cuando la vi, no pude resistirme. Un regalo de boda para mi querida prima.

Coming back from work on a windy day, watching the sea from the train and thinking about how hungry I was, suddenly my brain registered what my eyes had been seeing for a while and ... it had to be expressed on a painting.

Volviendo del trabajo en un dia ventoso, mirando el mar desde el tren y pensando en lo hambrienta que estaba, de pronto mi cerebro registró lo que mis ojos estaban viendo desde hacia un rato y.. tuve que plasmarlo en un cuadro.

I got inspired by springtime and thought I wanted a picture of something that would make my day every morning, so I painted the coast as I love to imagine it, cristal clear water inviting you to swim and dive, the day not too hot, not too cold, blue sky but not boringly so... and jump from a rock! Childhood memories moreover...

Me inspiró la primavera y pensé que quería un cuadro que tuviera algo que me animara cada día, así que pinté la costa como me gusta imaginarmela, con agua cristalina invitándote a nadar y bucear, el dia ni demasiado cálido ni demasiado fresco, un cielo azul pero no aburridamente azul... :-)  y ¡salta desde una roca! Recuerdos de infancia además...

Velero en mar encrespada - Boat on a rough sea

Acrilico sobre tela. Me apetecía pintar una marina, pero no la típica de la barquita amarrada en el puerto tranquilo, sino algo más en movimiento. Al fondo parece la entrada al puerto de San Sebastián.

Acrilic painting. I felt like painting a seascape, but not the typical boat lying in a calm haven, rather something more in motion. The background seems to be the entrance to the port of San Sebastián in Spain.
