I bought these carnations this spring, I felt desperate some colour in my life. I could look out at the sea and let my eyes rest on them on the way, feeling joy of life and getting some rest for my soul, whatever that is. Now they are slowly drying, but they will surely come back to life next spring.

Compré estos claveles en primavera, necesitaba desesperadamente un poco de color en mi vida. Así podía mirar al mar y dejar que mis ojos descansaran sobre ellos de camino, sintiendo alegría de vivir y a la vez un poco de descanso para el alma, sea lo que sea eso. Ahora van secándose lentamente, pero con toda seguridad brotarán de nuevo la primavera que viene.

Finally I finished this portrait of an athlete, a present for some friends of mine. Her husband was very very happy with it.

Finalmente acabe este retrato de una atleta, un regalo para unos amigos. Su marido estaba muy muy contento con el resultado.

This was an order I got through my painting instructor. I never even met the interested people. This woman died recently and they wanted to have something to remember her by, apart from the tiny picture I had to start with, the one you can see on the draft, in the lower left hand corner. The size of a passport foto or smaller. I thought I wouldn´t be able to do it, or that I would loose my sight... but there you go! Apparently they were happy with the result, as they paid without any complaint.

Esto fue un encargo que recibi a través de mi profesora de dibujo. En ningún momento tuve contacto con las personas interesadas. Esta mujer murió recientemente y querían algo para recordarla, algo que no fuera la minúscula foto tamaño carnet que se puede ver en la foto del borrador, abajo a la izquierda. Pensé que no sería capaz de hacer el retrato o que perdería la vista, pero ahí está! Aparentemente se fueron contentas con el resultado, ya que pagaron sin ninguna queja.
